Laura Hamor is a New York artist who creates her jewelry using Precious Metal Clay, PMC. PMC is 99.9% pure silver. PMC begins as pure silver ground to a fine powder and added to a clay binder. The PMC is soft and can be stamped and manipulated into different shapes, then the clay is dried, filed and then fired in a jewelry kiln. The clay binder burns away and what remains is the pure silver.
Each piece is then given a patina to reveal the butterfly wing design and the typed text stamped on each piece.
Finally each bracelet is hand sanded and polished before it is attached to the thin leather cord with adjustable slide knots.
As a clay artist, Laura also creates clay illustrations for children's publication and recently began writing children's stories. These pieces reflect her love of art, writing and the desire to inspire others on their own creative journey.
